For the first time in 58 years, there will be no team of Clydesdales parading down Colorado Boulevard in the Rose Parade on Jan. 2, officials said Tuesday.
A spokesman for St. Louis-based brewer Anheuser-Busch, makers of Budweiser, said the company made the decision in May.
“We’ve truly enjoyed being a part of the Rose Parade, and appreciate the great work on our floats over the years,” Rob McCarthy, an Anheuser-Busch vice president, said in an emailed statement.
“As Budweiser looks to reach new consumers, we’ve decided to invest in other types of events that create a more direct connection with beer drinkers, and where we can discuss and sample the Budweiser brand.”
