Eber: Progressive Sour Grapes

We are told that Hillary won the “popular” vote, without the consideration of the Electoral College.  Of course if we had a popular vote deciding the presidential winner, the campaigns would have been different.  Guess Hillary forgot about Wisconsin and Michigan?  If the Democrats won the Presidency, they why didn’t they win the House of Representatives and the Senate—or lost two more State to a majority of Republican legislators?

Actually the Progressives do not believe in free and open elections.  The Orange Coast College Professor Cox was caught on tape, during class time claiming the November 8 election was an act of terrorism.  She went on to smear President-Elect Trump.  Oh, this was not in a course about history, civics, government or public administration—no, it was in her SEXUALITY class.  Think schools need more money?  Looks like even sex is a political act.

“With the possible exception of California, New York City, and a few metropolitan areas, the country craves change from the status quo. Apparently such a notion has escaped the progressive hierarchy in Washington D.C.

The Democratic leadership team in the House of Representatives led by Nancy Pelosi and Steny Hoyer are better qualified to receive the Early Bird Special at the Sizzler than providing viable opposition to the Trump Administration. These leaders are tired and worn out.

I am one of those people and don’t feel obligated to make excuses for my beliefs at the altar of the Political Correctness God. (Oh, I forgot the mere mention of a higher being is persona non grata in the Progressive Marxist 101 introductory course)  The bottom line is that I have grown weary of all the complaining and false information coming from “leftist world” which depicts me as being “deplorable” and a racist.”

Progressive Sour Grapes by Richard Eber

Dear Friend

The commentariat has been treating Clinton’s popular vote win and electoral vote loss as some kind of anomaly.

Maybe it’s not. Maybe it’s simply what you see when right-wing red state voter suppression comes to fruition.

Think about it: we have some states that encourage voting, a/k/a blue states.  We have some states that suppress voting, a/k/a red states. Quick quiz: What happens when lots of people vote in the blue states, and few people vote in the red states?

Correct.  The candidate who wins the blue states wins the popular vote, and the candidate who wins the red states wins the electoral vote. Q.E.D.

Among the ten states with the highest turnout, Clinton won eight. Among the ten states with the lowest turnout, Clinton won three.

In sum, right-wing voter suppression is working, and it is working bigly, as our President-Elect would say. It certainly worked bigly for him.

Rep. Alan Grayson

Arguing that the popular should have determined who became President is classic Progressive sour grapes. This delusionary thinking is like a football team that has more rushing yards than their opponent thinking they were victorious even if the score said otherwise Afterwards, the defeated party believes that statistics should have determined the outcome of the game and files a groundless protest with the league.

Former Congressman Alan Grayson, who did not even make it through the Democratic  U.S. Senate primary in Florida, is totally out of touch with what transpired in his own state and the country as a whole.  He is a symbol of the failure of the Democratic Party to relate to their constituents while blaming others for his own and Hillary Clinton’s dismal performance

Prior to the Presidential Election, both candidates knew what the rules were and campaigned accordingly. Donald Trump virtually ignored California and put little effort there because he had no chance to win. He needed to allocate his funds wisely as Clinton outspent him by more than 2 to 1 in the country as a whole. This is the way the game is played.

Would have Hillary Clinton won the popular vote by such a large margin if Trump spent more money in the Golden State?  The answer is “who knows” and “who cares” because what transpired in the Electoral College where Trump won by landslide is all that matters. This is not gymnastics where style points are given by the judges

The suppression of voting in any State is a bunch of BS. There is no credible evidence that any citizen who was qualified to vote was not allowed to do so.  The basic truth is that many African Americans, Hispanic, and millennial’s,  either crossed party lines or decided to stay home because they did not like nor trust Hillary Clinton. This stark reality is not the fault of Donald Trump or the GOP.

Voters felt they had good reason for making their decision to reject the Democratic Ticket which included

  • The email scandal where five individuals who worked on behalf of Hillary Clinton took the 5th to avoid self incrimination. Bill Clinton having a clandestine meeting with Attorney General Loretta Lynch at an airport while his wife was under investigation did not help. Hillary’s lying about almost everything poured kerosene over the fire.
  • The pay for play activities of the Clinton Foundation while she was Secretary of State with representatives of foreign governments. Going along with this were the outrageous speaking fees they received which was an obvious case of quid pro quo money laundering.
  • Unhappiness with the previous administration by voters who feel they were left out and ignored. Hillary Clinton, especially in rust belt states, gave the impression she was running for a third term of Obama.
  • Especially troubling  for those who rejected the democratic nominee was the disastrous foreign policy including the Iran Arms deal, the rise of Isis, and the failed reset with Russia to name a few.  Domestically, those who rejected Hillary Clinton felt that excessive governmental regulations and trade policies have resulted in the loss of high paying jobs for the middle class.

If one were to buy into Alan Grayson’s rationalization for Hillary Clinton’s defeat, one would think the whole country would be supporting the Democratic Party.  This is clearly not the case.  He failed to mention the Republican Party holds majorities in both houses of Congress and 33 Governorships in the 50 States.

With the possible exception of California, New York City, and a few metropolitan areas, the country craves change from the status quo.

Going along with this thinking is the notion that alleged Russian hacking of the internet of Hillary Clinton and the Democratic National Committee is somehow responsible for losing the election.  As such the Electoral College is to reconsider the people’s decision to place Donald Trump in the White House and instead give the job to Hillary. At the same time progressives are trying to make us believe we believe our actions in voting for the GOP ticket was an act of insanity.

Are we supposed to be outraged that Donald Trump is going to overhaul the EPA while cutting down executive actions by President Obama?  Should we be doing flip-flops because pairing down the power of the Federal Government is not an “ain’t it awful” moment for us?

How many times must I hear “Trump is doing a horrible job when he hasn’t even assumed the oath of office yet?  Or fears from Democrats that Trump will run up the National Debt with his policies.  Compared to what  Obama has done isn’t this like the pot calling the kettle black? Relax guys and give Trump a chance to show what he can do.

As for two bit politicians such as Alan Grayson, start coming up with your own ideas and stop carpet bagging on fears about Donald Trump. Voters are fed up with this act and demand more from their elected officials than paranoid rants against their opponents.  Ironically Progressive’s demagogic behavior of late closely resembles the methodology Donald Trump allegedly used to rally the troops.

Oh, how history repeats itself.
