Republican have solid, real solutions to the homeless and affordable housing crisis. Sadly, the media refuses to inform the public. One of the better plans has been developed by Jonathan Flemming a candidate for the San Jose City Council. He created this in conjunction with urban public policy experts and the local community.
“I have a plan for our homeless which focuses on
- rehabilitation emphasizing sobriety,
- treatment for mental illness,
- and job placement
through immediate housing in prefabricated university-like campuses away from schools and neighborhoods, with a goal of self-supportiveness while saving half a billion dollars in construction costs over current practices.

Notice no mention of shelters or housing. Flemming understands that is not the problem—solving the CAUSE of homelessness is the issue. Until we fix the root cause of homelessness, the Industry will bleed the people dry and the problem will grow, Thanks to Mr. Flemming for understanding the issue and providing a framework to solve the crisis.

Learn more at VoteFleming.com/homelessplan The Fleming Homeless Plan is built upon compassion, fulfilling a vow to fix the system after I was victimized during my own disability. It is the product of four years of research on homelessness, including my work on the San José Neighborhoods Commission and partnering with the academic community at San José State University. The Fleming Homeless Plan is built on the basic pillars of homelessness theory: 1. Increasing the Housing Supply Reducing fees, regulations and restrictions to increase all supply. Building prefabricated university-like campuses tailored to the rehabilitory needs of homeless individuals. 2. Prevention Assisting persons on the fringe of losing their home for a specific amount of time with medical/mental health, sobriety, temporary housing, financial assistance and more. 3. Identification and 4. Treatment Triaging based on need and receptiveness to treatment. The sooner the treatment, the faster the stability. See graphic below. 5. Self-Supportive with a Safety Net of Services Instilling in persons a sense of purpose, worth, and confidence in their ability to support themselves while recognizing that humans are fallible. |
| Campuses will be constructed in a semi-rural setting, will comprise of prefabricated dormitory structures, indoor/outdoor kitchens, medical facilities, classrooms, recreational areas and more. Residents will engage in job training, hobbies, community gardening, and other valuable life skills. Pets will be welcome. |
