Two Republican candidates have been leading in the polls in the deep-blue state.
As Gov. Gavin Newsom is set to leave Sacramento after serving his second and final term, more than 60 people have made it to the 2026 primary election ballot, hoping to become the next governor of California.
Among them, seven candidates were scheduled to make a case for themselves on the stage at the NBC4 and Telemundo 52 California Gubernatorial and Los Angeles Mayoral Debate on Wednesday, May 6, 2026.
The 2026 gubernatorial election is already showing something unusual: two Republican, pro-Trump candidates are leading in the poll in the deep-blue state. Also the sexual misconduct scandal involving Rep. Eric Swalwell, who was once considered the Democratic frontrunner in the race, may have shaken up the race.

Xavier Becerra
Xavier Becerra has been in public service for decades.
Becerra is used to making history: he was the first Latino to become the nation’s first health secretary and the state’s first attorney general.
Chad Bianco
Chad Bianco has been the Riverside County sheriff since 2018.
Bianco has been a vocal critic of the Democratic leadership in Sacramento, saying the “defund the police” movement has made California unsafe.
It is flying apart like a super nova. The Democrats are stating publicly what they are about. They are stating illegals are their game.
Evidentially they feel so secure in a one party state where the Governor lies about spending, the failed high speed rail, and more failed projects like RHNA.
It isn’t just in this corrupt State of Calif. Look around you have Democrats like Bass who are traveling to Communist nations. The game is over.
The question is now that it is openly publicized of the corruption in welfare scams, how will the supposed upright citizens justify continued support for criminal and corrupt statements as well as actions in Sacramento.
For the first time 2 Republicans have a strong chance because the Democrats cannot justify their actions.
It stinks in Sacramento, it stinks in Los Angeles, it stinks in San Diego, it stinks in Palo Alto, it stinks in San Jose. and more.
When the State under democrats intentionally hammer the oil industry and then provide not one rational alternative you know it stinks. So let’s import oil from countries that hate us.
